Playwright Joseph P. Krawczyk writes: “You’re invited to a reading of a new play, Toxic Lies, by Joseph P. Krawczyk:
Ahmed, a young, black teacher and a Muslim, stands accused of drowning a racist, fellow teacher at a pool party at the end of the school year. Lies abound as to who and why the murder was committed. Was it for revenge, racism, or attempted rape? Was the perpetrator Ahmed; Jeff, a close friend; or Jessica, the accused’s wife? Winston Johnson, a black detective, does his best to answer those very questions.
Only at the end of the play do we grasp the tragic results that unfold, which entangles everyone involved, including the victim, in a Rashomon-like narrative.
